Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lyme Disease and how can it be treated?

Short Answer

Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis) is a bacterial infection that is spread through the bite of infected ticks. The flu-like symptoms can cause joint, heart, and other damage if left untreated.

Long Answer

Both humans and animals can catch Lyme disease, but it is easily treated with antibiotics as long as it is diagnosed quickly and accurately. Tetracycline, penicillin and erythromycin are often used for both humans and animals.

Remember to always follow your doctor or veterinarian's guidelines and ensure that all of the medication is taken, even if symptoms disappear quickly.
